“Falcon” Inspection Case 1: Inspection of Cracks at the Mouth of Transparent Glass Bottles
1. What Kind of Process Did You Use to Consider Visual Inspection?
Visual inspection was conducted in the process of inspecting the mouths of glass bottles, which are produced at a rate of several dozen bottles per minute.
2. What Was the Issue?
Transparent glass bottles transmit light, which causes reflections on the back surface, and the high gloss reflects light, making inspection difficult. Therefore, there is no visual inspection equipment that can handle this. Moreover, it is difficult to maintain accurate visual inspection of tens of thousands of glass bottles per day from a concentration standpoint. For this reason, human appearance inspections result in defective products being passed on to subsequent processes, and we hope to use an appearance inspection system to prevent oversights.
3. What Kind of System Did You Consider?
We are considering a system that uses multiple cameras to inspect transparent glass bottles from the side on a conveyor belt on a production line. Achieves more than one inspection per second.
4.How Did the Issue Go?
In the early stages of investigation, a normal product was incorrectly detected due to the transmission and reflection characteristic of transparent glass. By optimizing the imaging environment and adjusting the inspection conditions, we suppressed misjudgments to less than 1%.
5. Why Did You Work With AFC Lab.?
Our customers have verified and installed products from multiple visual inspection system manufacturers. However, because “(1) detection accurcy is poor and “(2) it takes about half a day to a day to build an AI learning model,” tuning to achieve inspection accuracy takes a very long time, and the desired detection accuracy cannot be achieved.
We will conduct a demo work test for our customers using our “Falcon”. Complete model construction in about 15 minutes. I was attracted to the fact that it was able to clearly detect abnormalities even in a short period of time, and decided to seriously consider it. After that, the customer’s request is satisfied.
